Carlyle Aviation Partners (Carlyle Aviation) has recently closed a $280 million pre-delivery payment (PDP) financing facility for Wizz Air. The PDP facility will partially finance Wizz Air’s PDP payment obligations in respect of several A321neo aircraft scheduled to deliver during 2023 and 2024.

The PDP facility will support Wizz Air’s growth strategy. “We are grateful to the team at Carlyle who worked with us on this transaction to structure a solution tailored to our needs,” said Ian Malin, Wizz Air’s Executive Vice President and Group Chief Financial Officer. “This facility allows us to manage risk and maintain our focus on being the lowest cost airline operator. Combined with the transition to the latest technology A321neo-family aircraft, this approach supports Wizz Air’s commitment to deliver immediate shareholder value and a reduction in its CO2 unit emissions by 25% by 2030.”

“Following a strong rebound in consumer travel through 2022 and into 2023, airlines are looking to capitalize on increased demand to fuel their growth ambitions,” said Alexander Rasnavad, Chief Commercial Officer at Carlyle Aviation. “We are delighted to support Wizz Airlines’ fleet growth.”

Carlyle Aviation seeks to “provide flexible financing solutions for its airline customers”, including PDP financing, new aircraft sale-leasebacks, and mid-life aircraft leasing.
